The new mortgage modificaion programs:

• are a good idea & will help many homeowners avoid foreclosure.
• are a good start, but more should be done to prevent foreclosures.
• may unfairly reward people for not paying their mortgages.
• won't ultimately slow the stem of rising foreclosures.
• are a nice thought, but won't keep me from having to bust my hump to make my mortgage payment & heat my house this winter.
